WIR 300 with Integrated Shaft less Unwinds and Rewinds
Web Inspection and Rewinding Machine
A handy and invaluable machine for converting industry, the WIR 300 serves as a filter between the printing and lamination processes. The output of the Printing Machine is screened for printing defects such as mis-register, blade lines, shade variations etc. by means of a full width stroboscope provided as standard equipment. On request, a web video or a 100% defect detection system can be provided instead for more effective inspection.
The defective material thus identified is removed by cut and paste operations and only good copy is rewound to provide 100% defect free reels for downstream processes starting with lamination.
Another possibility is to edit a printed reel previously inspected and marked for removal on a printing machine equipped with an online 100% defect detection system.
Either way, the process not only ensures that there is no value addition on bad copy but also increases the plant productivity by making it possible to use its Lamination and Slitting facilities to their full potential without interruption.
Besides the primary function of Inspection, the machine is packed with features for a variety of converting applications with include :
- Correcting the edge of a badly rewound reel .
- Removal of edge trim .
- Rewinding a reel at higher or lower tension more suited to downstream processes .
- Resizing (reducing or increasing) the real diameter .
- Re-spooling (rewinding the reel on a different size core).
The WIR 300 can handle Flexible packaging substrates in their plain / printed / coated / co-extruded and laminated combinations of base materials such as paper (including label stock), plastic films such as OPP, PET, CPP, PVC, POF and aluminum foil.
